Biography

Amena Shahabuddin, MPAS, PA-C, is a board-certified physician assistant in the Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

Ms. Shahabuddin completed her Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of Texas at Dallas in 2012. She went on to complete her Master of Physician Assistant Studies in 2017 from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.

She practiced in El Paso, Texas, in the Emergency Department at Texas Tech University Health Science Center of El Paso for three years, during which she developed a passion for oncologic and hematologic medicine. She began her career at UT Southwestern on the inpatient Bone Marrow Transplant service. From there, she combined her experience and passion for emergency medicine and oncology to join the Simmons Acute Care clinic, where she managed a number of oncologic emergencies, supported patients during their treatment and the side effects that come with them, and worked closely with oncologists to continue quality patient care within the Simmons Cancer Center.

She is currently a member of the Melanoma/Sarcoma team with a focus on cutaneous malignancies and sarcoma. She continues to pursue interests in clinical operations, education, and clinical trials. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the Advanced Practitioner Society for Hematology and Oncology.
