Biography
Anas Jawaid, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in advanced heart failure and heart transplantation and left ventricular assist devices (LVAD).
Dr. Jawaid earned his medical degree at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Strong Memorial Hospital and the University of Rochester Medical Center, where he also gained advanced training through a cardiovascular disease fellowship. Dr. Jawaid also completed an advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology fellowship at UT Southwestern.
Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in cardiovascular disease and internal medicine, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2025.
Dr. Jawaid is a member of the American College of Cardiology, the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology, the American Society of Transplantation, the Heart Failure Society of America, and the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation.
In addition to his areas of clinical specialization, Dr. Jawaid has a strong interest in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
He has delivered national and international presentations and published peer-reviewed academic articles related to his areas of expertise.
Personal Note
Dr. Jawaid has trained at multiple busy medical centers, giving him a multifaceted perspective on care. His personal priority is helping patients understand why they are seeing a heart failure doctor and supporting them throughout their medical journey.
When he’s not at work, Dr. Jawaid enjoys watching European soccer, playing tennis, and enjoying the warm Texas weather after spending many years in medical training in the Northeast.
