Biography

Ankur Patel, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurological Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. His clinical interests include brain tumors, neurosurgical oncology, and spinal metastases.

Dr. Patel earned his medical degree at UT Southwestern, where he also completed a residency in neurological surgery. He gained advanced training in neurosurgical oncology through a fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and then returned to UT Southwestern to join the faculty in 2023.

Dr. Patel is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the Society for Neuro-Oncology, and the Texas Association of Neurological Surgeons. He is an ad-hoc reviewer for the Journal of Neuro-Oncology.

A prolific presenter and author, Dr. Patel has published extensively on the treatment of brain and spine tumors through various strategies, including traditional surgical approaches, minimally invasive surgery, and radiation. His research involves developing novel treatment strategies for patients with brain tumors.

Personal Note

Outside of work, Dr. Patel enjoys hiking, running, skiing, traveling, playing golf, and watching Dallas Cowboys football.
