Biography
Aya Hamao-Sakamoto, D.D.S., Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
Dr. Hamao-Sakamoto earned her doctor of dental surgery degree at Meikai University School of Dentistry in Japan, where she also completed her residency and a fellowship in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
Certified by the Japanese Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2007. She is also a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr. Hamao-Sakamoto is a fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Asian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the Japanese Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
She is passionate about research and has published nearly 75 peer-reviewed articles.
