Bardia Amirlak, M.D., F.A.C.S., is a triple board-certified plastic surgeon at UT Southwestern Medical Center and an expert in cosmetic surgery. His expertise in plastic surgery translates into results that not only look natural for his patients, but also are safe and effective.
"We set the pace and protocols for plastic surgery across the globe. One of the major reasons is our extensive research into new plastic surgery techniques and technology,” Dr. Amirlak says.
One of Dr. Amirlak’s primary areas of research involves facial aging and shape. He has investigated the environmental factors of aging, various methods of fat grafting for the face and body, and 3D-analysis of the face and nose, all to enhance the results of surgery. This background contributes significantly to his skill in tailoring aesthetic surgeries for patients.
When talking with patients about what they want to achieve, he evaluates whether nonsurgical or surgical cosmetic approaches will achieve the best results. He offers a full range of options for the eyes, face, and body – such as body contouring procedures, breast augmentation, primary and complex rhinoplasty, and facial rejuvenation techniques such as high SMAS face lift, upper lip lift, neck lift, fat injections to the cheek and under the eyes, and upper and lower eyelid surgery. He also offers Botox® for neck wrinkles, crow’s feet, and peri-oral lines; hyaluronic acid filler for both fine and deep lines; Ulthera (ultrasound face lift), and PRP (platelet-rich plasma) treatment for hair loss.
In his Dallas office, he uses sophisticated imaging systems such as VECTRA three-dimensional face and body cameras to achieve the most accurate results. Other unique areas of his practice include hand rejuvenation with FDA-approved fillers, fat injection and vein ablation, and Botox® injections for excessive palm and armpit sweating. As part of expanding his cosmetic practice, he has put together a comprehensive treatment protocol for breast and face gender affirmation surgeries. With his team, Dr. Amirlak also travels to Dubai to perform surgery.
In addition being an expert in cosmetic surgery, Dr. Amirlak performs complex reconstructive procedures to restore a more natural appearance or improve function after a traumatic injury or illness. These reconstructive procedures range from breast reconstruction after breast cancer treatment to nasal surgery to correct breathing problems.
For breast reconstruction, Dr. Amirlak offers a comprehensive range of options to create new breasts that look natural. These include various types of implants, DIEP flaps (Deep Inferior Epigastric Perforator), modified extended latisimus flaps, and other perforator flaps including under the buttocks and PAP flaps (profunda artery perforator), which he performs in collaboration with his partners. He is one of the few plastic surgeons in the country who has experience with the non-implant-based BRAVA Bra and fat injections, which can be used for breast reconstruction as well as augmentation.
Because of his background training and his innovative surgical procedures, Dr. Amirlak has been internationally recognized for treating adult and pediatric patients with certain types of peripheral nerve and headaches disorders, such as daily persistent headaches (NDPH), occipital neuralgia, and chronic migraines. He performs both surgical procedures (including trigger release and nerve decompression) as well as non-surgical Botox® procedures for the treatment of intractable headaches.
He uses his own modified endoscopic-assisted approach for the treatment of occipital migraines, as well as his innovative paradigm of Anatomical Regional Targeted (ART) Botox® injection. This is now considered the most comprehensive and targeted Botox® injection available.
Dr. Amirlak is not only very passionate about achieving the best natural results for his cosmetic patients, but he also dedicates part of his time to charity and humanitarian mission trips. He is extremely proud that he was able to save a Navy veteran’s forearm using a rare transfusion technique. The patient’s arm was amputated in a work-related accident, but Dr. Amirlak was able to save the arm and restore its function.
Dr. Amirlak enjoys skiing and traveling and is married to a cosmetic dentist. He and his wife welcomed a baby boy into their family in 2019.
