Biography

Brittny N. Tillman, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in the surgical treatment of cancerous and benign conditions of the head, neck, mouth, and throat – particularly microvascular reconstructive surgery to treat head and neck cancers.

Dr. Tillman earned her medical degree at the University of Texas at Houston’s McGovern Medical School. She completed a five-year otolaryngology residency and a fellowship in head and neck oncologic surgery at University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers. She also holds a bachelor’s degree with honors in biomedical science from Texas A&M University.

Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology, Dr. Tillman joined the faculties of UT Southwestern and its Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center in 2017. She has specialized training in the surgical treatment of craniomaxillofacial trauma and is also certified in the use of thyroid and parathyroid ultrasound.

Dr. Tillman has published a number of scholarly articles and contributed to two book chapters. She serves as a peer reviewer for the journal Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery and as a faculty advisor for UT Southwestern Medical School’s Otolaryngology Student Interest Group.

Her many honors include the Michigan Otolaryngologic Society’s Walter M. Belenky, MD Resident Research Award and the American Head and Neck Society’s Best Resident Basic Science Research Paper Award, both in 2015. She was also awarded the American Medical Association Foundation’s Physicians of Tomorrow Scholarship in 2010.

Dr. Tillman is a member of professional organizations that include the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, and the American Head and Neck Society.

In 2019 and 2020, Dr. Tillman was named a Texas Monthly Super Doctor Rising Star.
