Biography

Carl Middleton, M.D., M.P.H., is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in general internal medicine.

Dr. Middleton earned his medical degree at Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C. He completed a residency in general internal medicine at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. He also holds a master’s degree in public health planning and administration from the University of Tennessee.

Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2026. He previously served for 13 years as managing partner at Progressive Physician Associates in Fort Worth and was medical director of Hospice Plus, also in Fort Worth, for 17 years.

Dr. Middleton’s clinical interests include preventive medicine and chronic disease management, with a particular focus on patient education and empowerment. As an internist, he brings expertise in outpatient care, inpatient medicine, and palliative care.

He has contributed to infectious disease research related to sexually transmitted infections, as well as bioethics research examining health care environments and end-of-life care. He is an active member of both the American Medical Association and the National Medical Association.
