Biography

Carla Holcomb, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. 

Dr. Holcomb earned her medical degree at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. She completed a residency in general surgery at UAB Hospital and received advanced training in bariatric/minimally invasive surgery through a fellowship at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. She also holds a master’s degree in public health from the University of Alabama School of Public Health. 

She joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2019.

Dr. Holcomb is a member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Surgeons, the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, and the Society for American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons. She has delivered multiple national presentations, contributed chapters to surgical textbooks, and published numerous academic articles.
