Biography
Carlos Perez, M.D., is a Professor of Radiology at UT Southwestern Medical Center, and a member of its Neuroradiology Division. His clinical interests include neurological magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and head and neck radiology.
Dr. Perez earned a bachelor’s degree in biology at Yale University, and earned his medical degree at UT Southwestern Medical School. He then remained at UT Southwestern to complete his residency training in diagnostic radiology and a fellowship in neuroradiology.
At UT Southwestern, Dr. Perez works closely with the Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) Department, and actively collaborates with ENT specialists on the imaging components of their research projects. He also serves as faculty coordinator for the medical student rotation in neuroradiology, and places a high emphasis on educating fellows and residents alongside offering clinical services to patients.
His research interests include head and neck radiology and neuroradiology. His collaborations have resulted in multiple scholarly research articles in peer-reviewed journals and other publications.
Dr. Perez serves on various committees at UT Southwestern. He is the Neuroradiology Advisor for both the EPIC Enterprise Change Management Committee and the Radiology Residency Program Committee. He is also a member of the Radiology Resident Selection Committee, the Neuroradiology Functional and Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI) Optimization Committee, the Neuroradiology Fellowship Clinical Competency Committee, and the Committee for the Future of Medical Student Education in Radiology. Dr. Perez is the divisional evaluator for the Neuro MRI/ENT rotation in resident rotation evaluations.
Dr. Perez is also a member of several national and international professional organizations, including the American Society of Neuroradiology, the Radiological Society of North America, and the American Roentgen Ray Society, for which he also serves as a member of the Item-Writing Subcommittee.
