Biography

Cynthia Shen, D.N.P., CRNA, is a staff certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Management at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Dr. Shen earned her graduate degree at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center–New Orleans. She holds undergraduate degrees in nursing and neurobiology and worked in a Level 1 trauma facility caring for patients in the Neuro/Trauma ICU before her anesthesia training. Certified by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists, she joined the UT Southwestern staff in 2021.

At UT Southwestern, Dr. Shen is a core member of the cardiac certified registered nurse anesthetist team, providing anesthesia for patients undergoing cardiac, vascular, and neurosurgical procedures. She is also a member of the obstetrics anesthesia team and serves as a preceptor for nurse anesthesia residents and providers during advanced airway rotations. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology and the Texas Association of Nurse Anesthetists. Her clinical interests include anesthesia for vascular surgery and electrophysiology procedures. She serves as a mentor for nurse anesthesia residents and has a strong interest in education.
