Biography

DeAndrea LaNette Payne, M.S., RDN, LD, ACSM-CPT, is a Registered Dietitian in UT Southwestern Medical Center’s Weight Wellness Program at the Internal Medicine Subspecialties Clinic location.

Ms. Payne received her undergraduate degrees in sociology and nutrition from the University of North Texas and Texas Women’s University, respectively. She then completed a master’s degree from Saint Louis University where she studied nutrition and physical performance.

Ms. Payne’s journey toward patient care began when she experienced a personal loss at 15. Through this experience, she found a passion for helping bring nutrition and physical education to underserved and underrepresented populations like the one she grew up in in southern Dallas. Her focus has been to improve the accessibility of nutrition information to all who may benefit from dietary and lifestyle changes.

With a previous background in adult weight management in the private sector, private practice care, and working within the fitness industry as a personal trainer, Ms. Payne has focused her passions on total body transformations that include our mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. She is committed to evidence-based practices and continuous learning that supports Health at Every Size, body/health positivity, and cultural/social awareness. She enjoys working with patients in interdisciplinary team settings that foster holistic health and lifestyle improvements.
