Biography

Degian Ghebermicael, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in hospital medicine.

Dr. Ghebermicael earned his medical degree at UT Southwestern and performed his residency in internal medicine at Tulane University School of Medicine. He also completed a bachelor’s degree in philosophy-neuroscience-psychology through the innovative and interdisciplinary PNP program at Washington University in St. Louis.

Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2022.

Dr. Ghebermicael is a member of the Heart Rhythm Society, the Association of Black Cardiologists, the American Heart Association, and the Texas Medical Association.

His clinical interests include cardiology, electrophysiology, resident education, and health care disparities.

Personal Note

Outside of work, Dr. Ghebermicael enjoys kayaking, biking, half marathons, and soccer. He is also an avid traveler and has visited more than 30 countries.
