Biography

Emilia Thomas, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in hospital medicine and practices at William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital.

Originally from Durban, South Africa, Dr. Thomas earned her medical degree at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, India, and completed an internal medicine residency at Abington Memorial Hospital in Pennsylvania. She also holds a bachelor's degree and master’s degree in biochemistry from the University of Durban-Westville, as well as a Master of Business Administration in health care management from the University of Texas at Dallas, where she subsequently obtained certification as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.

Board certified in internal medicine, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2005.

In addition to her other roles, Dr. Thomas is a mentor at Seldin College, one of the academic colleges within UT Southwestern Medical School, and she recently became a UT Southwestern Medical Center Certified Professional Coach.
