Biography
Fiona Strasserking, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Her areas of interest are health disparities, cardiovascular diseases in global health, and cardiovascular imaging.
Dr. Strasserking earned her medical degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston’s McGovern Medical School. She completed her residency in internal medicine at Washington University in St. Louis/Barnes-Jewish Hospital and gained advanced training through a fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. During her fellowship, she was selected as a Fogarty Global Health Fellow through the National Institutes of Health.
Dr. Strasserking is veteran of the United States Navy, where she served as a hospital corpsman.
Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2022. She also serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Sierra Leone.
Dr. Strasserking’s research focuses on cardiovascular diseases in global health. She has published on the prevalence of cardiovascular disease risk factors in an understudied population in Sierra Leone, and her Fogarty fellowship in Zambia described the phenotype of women with peripartum cardiomyopathy.
