Biography

Gerardo Gonzalez-Guardiola, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in vascular surgery, with a focus on complex aortic surgery, aortic graft infection, cerebrovascular revascularization, and limb salvage.

Dr. Gonzalez-Guardiola earned his medical degree at the Ponce School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Puerto Rico. He completed a residency in general surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens and received advanced training in vascular and endovascular surgery through a fellowship at UT Southwestern.

He joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2021.

Dr. Gonzalez-Guardiola is a member of the American College of Surgeons and the Society for Vascular Surgery. In addition, he serves on the National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP) Initiative for Decreasing Pneumonia and Ventilator Over 48 Hours Task Force.

He has published several academic articles and delivered numerous lectures and presentations.

In 2020 and 2021, he received UT Southwestern’s Pharos Excellence in Surgical and Mentorship Award.
