Biography

Gregor Massoth, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Management at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in advanced airway management and perioperative anesthesiology.

Dr. Massoth earned his medical degree at the University of Bonn in Germany. He completed a residency in anesthesiology at University Hospital Bonn, where he also received advanced training through fellowships in critical care medicine and pediatric cardiac anesthesiology. He also holds a master’s degree in medical education from Heidelberg University in Germany.

He joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2026. Prior to joining UT Southwestern, Dr. Massoth served as the director of anesthesia for ophthalmic surgery in the department of anesthesiology and intensive care medicine at University Hospital Bonn.

He is a member of several professional associations, including the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care. He is also a member of the German Working Group on Airway Management and contributes to German guidelines on the subject. In addition, Dr. Massoth is an ad hoc reviewer for the Journal of Clinical Anesthesia, MethodsX, and Life Sciences.

Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Massoth focuses on improving airway management, perioperative care, and team-based training through simulation and interprofessional education.

Dr. Massoth has delivered national and international presentations, contributed to the book Surgery of the Elbow, and published several academic articles related to his areas of expertise.

Personal Note

When he’s not at work, Dr. Massoth enjoys running, reading, and cycling.
