Biography

J. Alexander Weston, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in aortic surgery, aortic root surgery, complex valvular disease, coronary revascularization, and heart and lung transplantation.

Dr. Weston earned his medical degree at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He completed a residency and fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Southern California (USC), where he served as Chief Resident.

He joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2023.

Dr. Weston is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and former President of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society Texas Alpha Chapter. He is a former research scholar for the Cardiothoracic Surgical Trials Network, where he completed the clinical and implementation research skills program. He has contributed to several articles and publications and has given multiple presentations in his areas of expertise.

In 2019, he earned the title of USC Thoracic Surgery Resident of the Year.

Personal Note

Dr. Weston’s hobbies include enjoying time with his wife and three daughters, biking, and exercising.
