Biography

J. Kathlene Trello-Rishel, M.D., is a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in child and adolescent psychiatry, and her clinical focus is on training and education.

Dr. Trello-Rishel earned her medical degree at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. She completed a residency in psychiatry at Baylor College of Medicine and a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2008.

Dr. Trello-Rishel serves as Program Director for UT Southwestern’s Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship and the Triple Board Program. She also serves on the Children’s Consult Service and in the Children’s Outpatient Clinic, where she supervises child psychiatry fellows.

She is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She is also a member of the Texas Society of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the Association for Academic Psychiatry, and the American Association of Directors of Psychiatric Residency Training.

She has delivered numerous national and regional lectures and is an author of several published academic articles and poster presentations related to her areas of expertise.

When she’s not at work, Dr. Trello-Rishel enjoys Pilates and travel.
