Biography
Jennifer Thomas, M.D., is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics and the Department of Neurology and Neurotherapeutics at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in fetal and neonatal neurology and neurodevelopmental outcomes.
Dr. Thomas earned her medical degree at the UT Health Science Center at Houston’s McGovern Medical School. She completed a residency in pediatrics at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, followed by a residency in child neurology at UT Southwestern. She gained advanced training in fetal and neonatal neurology at the University of California, San Francisco.
Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology with special qualification in child neurology, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2015.
Dr. Thomas is Director of the UTSW Fetal and Neonatal Neurology Fellowship Program, Associate Director of the Neurological Neonatal Intensive Care Program, and Co-Director of the Pre-Doctoral Apprenticeship Program. She also serves on several committees, including the Child Neurology Program Evaluation Committee, the Pediatric Faculty Advocate Committee (PFACT), and the Fetal and Neonatal Neurology Education Committee.
An active researcher, lecturer, and author, Dr. Thomas has published several peer-reviewed articles. Her research focuses on fetal and neonatal neurology and neurodevelopmental outcomes. Additional interests include faculty development and imposter phenomenon.
She is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the Child Neurology Society, the Texas Neurological Society, and the Newborn Brain Society.
In 2022, for the second year in a row, Dr. Thomas was recognized as a Texas Super Doctors Rising Star by Texas Monthly magazine.
