Biography

Jessica H. Porembka, M.D., is an Associate Professor of Radiology at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of its Breast Imaging Division. She also serves as Parkland Radiology's Quality Assurance Medical Director.

After receiving her bachelor's degree in chemistry from Yale University, Dr. Porembka earned her medical degree at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. She completed her residency in radiology at Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology, where she also received advanced training in breast imaging through a fellowship program.

Board certified by the American Board of Radiology, Dr. Porembka joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2014.

She is a Fellow of the Society of Breast Imaging, an honor recognizing leaders in the field of breast imaging. In recognition of her dedication to the care of women with breast cancer, Dr. Porembka received the National Breast Cancer Foundation Medical Advisory Award in 2026.

Dr. Porembka serves as Vice Chair of Strategy and Quality at UT and as Quality Assurance Medical Director for Parkland Health Radiology. In these roles, she works to optimize patient care and safety through system-level improvements and the advancement of quality improvement initiatives. Her commitment to quality and patient-centered care is reflected in her active leadership and participation on numerous committees, including the Radiology Quality Committee, Imaging Services/Radiology Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Committee, Quality of Care and Patient Safety Committee, Radiology Peer Learning Committee, and Radiology Peer Review Committee.

She is also an active member of several national and international societies, including the Radiological Society of North America, Society of Breast Imaging, American College of Radiology, American Roentgen Ray Society, and Texas Medical Association.

Dr. Porembka's research interests include cancer screening, tomosynthesis, breast ultrasound, breast interventions, quality, and patient care and delivery. She has published numerous articles on breast imaging and quality in radiology and presented at invited lectures nationally and internationally.
