Biography

Justin T. Jordan, M.D., M.P.H., FAAN, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Neurology, with a secondary appointment in the Peter O’Donnell Jr. Brain Institute, at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in neuro-oncology, with a focus on primary brain tumors, neurofibromatosis, and schwannomatosis.

Dr. Jordan earned his medical degree at McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. He completed a residency in neurology at UT Southwestern Medical Center and Parkland Memorial Hospital, where he served as Chief Resident. He received advanced training through a neuro-oncology fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and Harvard Medical School.

He also holds a master’s degree in public health from the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health.

Certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and in neuro-oncology by the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties, Dr. Jordan joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2025. He is the past clinical director of the Pappas Center for Neuro-Oncology at Massachusetts General Hospital, where he also served as co-founder and director of the Department of Neurology’s Center for Health Policy and Advocacy.

At UT Southwestern, Dr. Jordan serves as Head of the Neuro-Oncology Section, where he treats patients with primary brain tumors and runs a comprehensive clinic for adult patients affected by neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) and schwannomatosis (including NF2-related schwannomatosis). He also serves as Head of the Policy, Outreach, and Societal Transformation Section in the Department of Neurology, where he promotes data-driven improvements on health policy, community-based neurology care, and global neurology care.

He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology, Vice Chair of its Advocacy Committee, and a member of its Brain Health Committee. He is a former Chair of the Scientific Advisory Committee for the Neurofibromatosis Network and serves on the Clinical Care Advisory Board of the Children's Tumor Foundation. He also serves on the Editorial Board of Neurology.

Dr. Jordan has a long history of conducting research related to NF1 and schwannomatosis, including work on interventional clinical trials for cutaneous neurofibromas, plexiform neurofibromas, and gliomas in NF1; all tumor types in NF2-related schwannomatosis; and chronic pain in non-NF2-related schwannomatosis. He has collaborated or led research investigations on novel imaging techniques, including longitudinal whole-body MRI scans, radiomics, and high-frequency ultrasound to advance our understanding of tumor behavior over time.

He has delivered numerous international and national presentations, contributed to books including Pocket Neurology and Neuro-Oncology for the Clinical Neurologist, and published more than 100 academic articles related to his areas of expertise.
