Biography
Kamel M. Itani, M.D., is a Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in oculoplastic and orbital surgery and ophthalmic oncology.
Dr. Itani earned his medical degree at the American University of Beirut, where he also completed a residency in ophthalmology. He received advanced training in standardized ophthalmic echography through a fellowship at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics and in plastic, orbital, and reconstructive eye surgery through a fellowship at the University of Michigan W.K. Kellogg Eye Center. He also completed a second residency in ophthalmology at UT Southwestern.
Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 1993.
Dr. Itani has authored numerous academic papers, letters, and book chapters and is a national and international lecturer on ophthalmic surgery and oncology.
He is a member of a number of professional organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the Texas Medical Association, the Dallas County Medical Society, and the Dallas Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Itani has been named a Super Doctor by Texas Monthly .
