Biography

Katie Tran, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of its Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. She specializes in sleep medicine, sleep apnea, and other sleep disorders.

Born in Thailand, Dr. Tran earned her medical degree at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City and completed internal medicine residency training at Baylor Scott and White in Temple, Texas, through the Texas A&M School of Medicine. She then obtained advanced training through a fellowship in sleep medicine at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, where she served as Chief Fellow.

Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in sleep medicine, Dr. Tran joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2019.

Dr. Tran's research interests include hypoglossal nerve stimulation, obesity hypoventilation syndrome, and obstructive sleep apnea.

Dr. Tran is an active member of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and the American College of Physicians.

Personal Note

Dr. Tran’s interests outside of medicine include baking, reading, board games, and learning new hobbies.
