Biography

Laura Mackay, M.D., M.P.H., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in genetic syndromes, metabolic disorders, and abnormal newborn screenings.

Dr. Mackay earned her medical degree at the Texas Tech El Paso Paul L. Foster School of Medicine and her master’s degree in public health at the University of Texas Health Science Center School of Public Health. She completed a combined residency in pediatrics and medical genetics at Baylor College of Medicine, where she also completed a fellowship in medical biochemical genetics .

Board certified in pediatrics and in clinical genetics and genomics, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2022.

Dr. Mackay is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and a Fellow of both the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics. She has published articles in several peer-reviewed journals related to her areas of interest.
