Biography

Laura Stone, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in child and adolescent psychiatry and serves as Medical Director of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Day Treatment Program at Children’s Health Dallas.

Dr. Stone earned her medical degree at UTHealth Houston and completed a residency in general psychiatry at the Texas A&M School of Medicine. She completed a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at UT Southwestern.

Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2014.

Dr. Stone has been elected president of the Texas Society of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and begins her term in mid-2023. She also serves on the Child and Adolescent Committee of the Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians.

Her clinical interests include mood disorders and suicide prevention. She has delivered several presentations, contributed to the chapter on antidepressants in the third edition of Dulcan's Textbook of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and published several academic articles related to her areas of expertise.

Personal Note

When she’s not working, Dr. Stone enjoys hiking, live music, fossil hunting, and spending time with her rabbits.
