Biography

Leslie Katz Lestz, M.D., is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology and the Department of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in early hearing detection and intervention (EHDI), early language access for children who are deaf or hard of hearing, and supporting medical homes for children who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Dr. Lestz earned her medical degree at the Emory School of Medicine and completed a residency in pediatrics at Children’s Medical Center Dallas.

Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2024. She previously spent 23 years in private practice in general pediatrics, with a special interest in children who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Dr. Lestz is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and is a member of the Dallas County Medical Society, the Texas Medical Association, and the Texas Pediatric Society.

Personal Note

When she’s not at work, Dr. Lestz enjoys indoor cycling, practicing classical Pilates, hiking, playing pickleball, reading, baking, traveling, and spending time with her family.
