Biography

Lori Ann Tappen, MPAS, PA-C, is a board-certified physician assistant (PA) in the Spine Center at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in orthopaedic spine surgery at Zale Lipshy University Hospital and William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital. Ms. Tappen works with Dr. Kevin Gill.

Ms. Tappen earned her Bachelor of Science degree in biology at University of Texas at Dallas - Richardson, and earned her Bachelor of Science Degree for Physician Assistant studies at UT Southwestern. She earned her Master of Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. 

Ms. Tappen is starting her 30th year in practice. She brings a diverse background of experience to her practice, including time spent with family practice, internal medicine, and pain management, as well as 20 years of orthopaedic spine surgery. 

She is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants, and the North American Spine Society. Ms. Tappen was awarded the honor of “PA of the Year” for UT Southwestern, 2010-2011.
