Biography

Mahmuda Islam, M.D., is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Her specialties include patient safety and education, improving the quality of inpatient care, and resident teaching.

Dr. Islam earned her medical degree at the Sher-e-Bangla Medical College in Bangladesh, and she completed a residency in internal medicine at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.

Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2013.

Dr. Islam is the Course Director of Hospital Medicine Grand Rounds for the hospitalist groups at Clements University Hospital and Parkland Memorial Hospital. Additionally, she serves on numerous committees, including the Patient Satisfaction Committee at Parkland.

In 2019, Dr. Islam received the Operational Excellence Award from the Division of Hospital Medicine at Parkland Health & Hospital System.

She is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of the Society of Hospital Medicine.

Personal Note

In her free time, Dr. Islam enjoys gardening, traveling, and spending time with her family.
