Biography
Mansi Gaitonde, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in echocardiography, fetal echocardiography, and cross-sectional imaging.
Dr. Gaitonde earned her medical degree at UT Southwestern Medical School. She completed both her residency in pediatrics and fellowship in pediatric cardiology at Emory University School of Medicine, followed by an advanced fellowship in noninvasive cardiac imaging at Emory University and the Sibley Heart Center.
Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in pediatric cardiology, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2021.
Dr. Gaitonde’s clinical interests include fetal echocardiography, transthoracic echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiography, and cross-sectional imaging (cardiac magnetic resonance imaging/computed tomography). She also has an interest in three-dimensional echocardiographic imaging and quality improvement in echocardiography.
She is passionate about providing prenatal cardiac counseling to families undergoing the process of coping with and understanding the diagnosis of congenital heart disease in their baby.
Dr. Gaitonde is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Heart Association (AHA), the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE), the Society of Pediatric Echocardiography, and the Society for Cardiac Magnetic Resonance.
She is active in clinical research in the field of cardiac imaging, and she has published several academic articles and delivered numerous lectures and presentations.
Dr. Gaitonde was selected for the ASE Top Investigator Grant in 2018 and 2021. She was awarded first place in the American College of Cardiology’s Georgia Chapter Fellow Research Competition in 2018 and was selected as a finalist for the AHA Young Hearts Council’s Young Investigator Award in 2021.
Personal Note
Her interests outside of medicine include ballet dancing, cooking, hiking, and spending time with her family.
