Biography
Mason Young, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and the Department of Neurological Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in complex primary and revision spine surgery, motion-preserving spine surgery, and spine conditions such as deformities, degenerative disorders, fractures, and cervical and lumbar disc herniations.
Dr. Young earned his medical degree at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. He received advanced training through an orthopedic spine surgery fellowship at the University of Utah Hospital.
He joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2026.
Dr. Young is a member of AO Spine North America.
He has authored peer-reviewed publications and delivered numerous presentations related to his areas of expertise.
Personal Note
When he’s not at work, Dr. Young enjoys spending time on his family’s cattle farm, attending sports events, running, and walking with his dog.
