Biography

Mohammad "Faizan" Zahid, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in malignant hematology, leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma and other plasma cell disorders, and novel treatment strategies for patients who can’t receive stem cell transplantation.

Dr. Zahid earned his medical degree at the Aga Khan University Medical College in Pakistan. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia and then received advanced training in hematology and medical oncology through a fellowship at UT Southwestern Medical Center, where he served as Chief Fellow.

Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in hematology and oncology, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2023.

Dr. Zahid is involved in ongoing research projects and has published numerous academic articles related to his areas of expertise.

He is a member of the American Society of Hematology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the Society of Hematologic Oncology. He serves as a reviewer for BMJ Case Reports.

In 2023, he earned UT Southwestern’s Undergraduate Medical Education Outstanding Fellow Teaching Award.

Personal Note

When he’s not at work, Dr. Zahid enjoys taking photographs, painting, cooking, and bird-watching.
