Rachel Schell, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in high-risk pregnancies; pregnancies complicated by complex maternal medical conditions such as preeclampsia, hypertension, cardiac disease, pulmonary disease, autoimmune conditions, psychiatric illness, and mood disorders; fetal anomalies; and prenatal diagnosis and genetic testing.
Dr. Schell earned her medical degree at UT Southwestern, where she also completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology and received advanced training through a maternal-fetal medicine fellowship.
Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2023.
Dr. Schell is a PeriPAN Obstetrics Liaison for UT Southwestern and serves on the UT Southwestern Residency Clinical Competency Committee and the Residency Milestone Committee.
She is a member of the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine and serves on the Perinatal Mental Health Taskforce for the North Central Texas Trauma Regional Advisory Council. She also served for four years on the Executive Committee for the Southwestern Gynecologic Assembly.
Dr. Schell has delivered national and regional invited lectures, contributed as a reviewer to the fourth edition of Maternal-Fetal Evidence-Based Guidelines, and published academic articles related to her areas of expertise.
In 2019, she received the Southwestern Gynecologic Assembly’s Outstanding Resident in Obstetrics and Gynecology Award.
When she’s not at work, Dr. Schell enjoys spending time with her husband and two kids; they especially love being outdoors and swimming all summer.
