Biography

Rafael L. Ufret-Vincenty, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in retina and vitreous diseases, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy. 

Dr. Ufret-Vincenty earned his medical degree at the University of Puerto Rico. He completed a residency in ophthalmology through the Harvard Ophthalmology Program at Massachusetts Eye and Ear and then received advanced training in treating vitreoretinal diseases through a fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Cole Eye Institute. 

Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. Ufret-Vincenty joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2006.

Dr. Ufret-Vincenty conducts research in age-related macular degeneration. He is the author of numerous papers and also serves as a reviewer for PLOS One, Eye, Molecular Vision, and Experimental Eye Research. He has given presentations in multiple international ophthalmology meetings and has been named a Texas Monthly Super Doctor multiple times, including in 2018.
