Biography
Rim Alkawas, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in general internal medicine.
Dr. Alkawas earned her medical degree at the October 6 University Faculty of Medicine in Egypt. She completed a residency in internal medicine at Ascension Providence Hospital in Southfield and Henry Ford Providence Hospital Novi, both in Michigan. She also completed a residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2024.
Dr. Alkawas’ clinical interests include women’s health, preventive medicine, and obesity medicine, with a focus on comprehensive primary care, chronic disease prevention, and weight management.
She is a member of the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, and the Syrian American Medical Society.
Personal Note
When she’s not at work, Dr. Alkawas enjoys running and short-distance hiking to stay active and balanced. She also has a passion for cooking and exploring world cuisines, as well as photography.
