Biography

Seung Kim, M.D., M.B.A., is a Professor in the Department of Radiology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in interventional radiology, including Y90 radioembolization, chemoembolization, and ablation of liver, kidney, and lung; portal hypertension, including transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) and balloon-occluded and plug-assisted retrograde transvenous obliteration (BRTO/PARTO); and lymphatic intervention.

Dr. Kim earned his medical degree at Kyung Hee University College of Medicine in South Korea. He completed a residency in diagnostic radiology and a fellowship in abdominal imaging at Samsung Medical Center and Sungkyunkwan University School of Medicine. He also completed a fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.

Additionally, he holds a master’s degree in executive healthcare management from The University of Texas at Dallas’ Naveen Jindal School of Management.

Certified by the American Board of Radiology, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2023 after 15 years on the faculty at Washington University School of Medicine in St Louis.

Dr. Kim currently serves as Director of Interventional Oncology in UT Southwestern’s Department of Radiology. He is a Fellow of the Society of Interventional Radiology and a member of the Radiological Society of North America and the Society of Interventional Oncology.

He also serves as Associate Editor of the International Journal of Gastrointestinal Intervention and is an ad hoc reviewer for the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology, the American Journal of Radiology, and Cardiovascular Interventional Radiology.

Dr. Kim has delivered many invited lectures internationally, contributed to three books, and published more than 50 peer-reviewed academic articles related to his areas of expertise. He has also served as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on several grants and clinical trials, including the current dose-escalation clinical trial supported by the Koo Foundation Sun Yat-Sen Cancer Center.

When he’s not at work, Dr. Kim enjoys playing golf and traveling.
