Biography

Sumitha Atluri, M.D., is a Faculty Associate in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

She earned her medical degree at Dr. B.R. Ambedkhar Medical School in Bangalore, India, and completed her residency in internal medicine at Hurley Medical Center in Flint, Michigan.

Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2020.

She is a member of the American College of Physicians and the Texas Medical Association.

Dr. Atluri likes building relationships with her patients and believes in shared decision-making.

In 2017, she received the Top Patient Experience Award from the JPS Medical Executive Council.

Personal Note

In addition to English, Dr. Atluri speaks Hindi, Telugu, and Kannada. When not working, she enjoys volunteering for multiple causes with her children, attending painting classes, gardening, playing with her Labrador, and traveling the world with her family.
