Biography

Troy Gurney, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in glaucoma, cataracts, and anterior segment conditions.

Dr. Gurney received his medical degree at UT Southwestern Medical School. He completed a residency in ophthalmology at Baylor College of Medicine and gained advanced training through a glaucoma fellowship at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami.

Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2024.

Personal Note

When he’s not at work, Dr. Gurney enjoys playing fetch with his golden retriever, Charlie; boating on Table Rock Lake; playing piano and tennis; traveling; and spending time with family and friends.
