UT Southwestern values our partnerships with referring physicians, and we offer various pathways to refer or transfer a patient to us. Our specialists will provide your patient with a multidisciplinary team approach to their care, drawing on the deep well of medical expertise and research available at our academic medical center.

Hospital-to-Hospital Transfers

Offered exclusively to physicians and hospital staff, UT Southwestern's hospital-to-hospital patient transfer service provides a seamless transition of patient care, including emergency and complex cases.

If you are a physician or hospital staff, call 877-645-0911 to speak with a UT Southwestern representative 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Throughout the patient’s stay at UT Southwestern, referring physicians are kept informed of their patient’s status and are notified if there are any changes to the transfer plan.

Maternal-Fetal Transport

Our maternal-fetal transport hotline provides 24-hour, direct physician-to-physician contact for high-risk obstetrical cases.

For emergencies, physicians should call 877-887-9MFM (877-887-9636). For nonemergencies, please call 214-645-3837.

Pediatrics

The more than 300 full-time physicians within the UT Southwestern Pediatric Group constitute one of the largest pediatric groups in Texas. They provide care at UT Southwestern, Children’s Health, Parkland Memorial Hospital, Scottish Rite for Children, and Texas Health Resources.

Our dedicated transplant intake coordinators simplify the process for both physicians and patients.

Cancer Services

UT Southwestern’s Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center is the only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in North Texas and one of just five in the entire Southwest.

In addition, Simmons Cancer Center is among only 32 U.S. cancer research centers to be designated by the NCI as a National Clinical Trials Network Lead Academic Participating Site.

Simmons Cancer Center has locations in Dallas, Richardson/Plano, and Fort Worth.

Spine

Physicians at UT Southwestern’s Spine Center work as a team with experts in nerve, muscle, and bone conditions, as well as nurses and physical therapists who work closely with patients to manage symptoms and reduce the risk of recurrence.

With one call, referring physicians can connect with all the specialists they need for spine care, such as experts from neurosurgery, orthopaedic surgery, pain management, spine imaging, spine rehabilitation, and anesthesiology.

Long-Haul COVID-19

UT Southwestern’s COVID Recover program – with locations in Dallas and Frisco – offers a combination of physical therapy to help patients regain strength and mobility, occupational therapy to improve activities of daily living, and speech therapy for cognitive rehabilitation. A four-week virtual group therapy program is also offered to help patients address psychological, sleep, and other issues.

Neuropsychologists and licensed professional counselors are available at each site for those who need more individualized attention. If needed, consultants have been identified in pulmonology, cardiology, neurology, and psychiatry for additional care.
