Biography

Aalaap Desai, M.D., is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

A board-certified internal medicine physician, Dr. Desai earned his medical degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center and completed his residency in internal medicine at Thomas Hospital in Fairhope, Alabama, where he received the Hospital Citizenship Award for excellence in patient care and teamwork.

His professional interests include hospital-based medicine, medical education, and clinical informatics.

Dr. Desai’s service on the board of the Jackson Free Clinic as a medical student fostered his dedication to advancing equitable and patient-centered care, a principle he continues to uphold at UT Southwestern.

Personal Note

When he's not working, Dr. Desai enjoys traveling, gardening, home improvement projects, and spending time with his friends and family.
