Biography

Aaron Plitt, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurological Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. A board-certified neurosurgeon, he specializes in skull base surgery and neurosurgical oncology.

Dr. Plitt earned his medical degree at UT Southwestern Medical School. He completed a residency in neurological surgery at UT Southwestern and received advanced training through a skull base oncology fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He is certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery.

He practiced in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for two years with Advocate Aurora Health prior to joining the UT Southwestern faculty in 2025.

Dr. Plitt has delivered invited lectures, contributed to multiple skull base and neurosurgical textbooks, and published over 30 peer-reviewed academic articles.

He is a member of the North American Skull Base Society, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Texas Medical Association, the Dallas County Medical Society, and the American Medical Association.

In 2025, he earned the Lighthouse Award from Advocate Aurora Health, which is given for the highest patient satisfaction scores for the year, and was named a Top Doctor in Milwaukee by Milwaukee Magazine.

Personal Note

When he’s not at work, Dr. Plitt enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, as well as running and cycling.
