Biography
Amanda Wise, D.O., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in nonoperative sports medicine, acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions, diagnostic and interventional musculoskeletal ultrasound, osteoarthritis, and sports-related concussion.
Dr. Wise earned her medical degree at The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth. She completed a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Washington and received advanced training through a sports medicine fellowship at New York University Grossman School of Medicine and NYU Langone Health.
During her fellowship training, she served as team physician for St. Joseph’s College at Brooklyn (NCAA Division III). She enjoys mass-participation sports event coverage and has provided medical coverage for the Seattle, Seattle Rock ‘n’ Roll, New York City, and Brooklyn marathons.
Certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in sports medicine, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2023.
Dr. Wise is passionate about medical education and enjoys working with and mentoring pre-medical and medical trainees. She serves on the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM) Education Committee and its Sports Ultrasound Committee. She is an ad hoc reviewer for PM&R Journal and a question writer for the AMSSM Fellows In-Service Training Exam.
She has published several academic articles related to her areas of expertise, contributed to three books, and delivered numerous presentations.
Personal Note
Dr. Wise grew up in Dallas-Fort Worth and played competitive lacrosse. Her goal is to partner with her patients to achieve their sports and activity goals and improve their daily function. When she’s not at work, Dr. Wise enjoys hiking, traveling, cooking, drinking coffee, and spending time in the mountains.
