Cecilia Ethun, M.D.

Cecilia Ethun, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in surgical oncology, gallbladder and bile duct cancer (cholangiocarcinoma), and liver cancer, including colorectal liver metastases.
Dr. Ethun earned her medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine. She completed a residency in general surgery at Emory University, where she also earned a Master of Science in clinical research as a Katz Foundation Research Fellow in Surgical Oncology. She gained advanced training in complex general surgical oncology and hepatopancreatobiliary surgery through a fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
Certified by the American Board of Surgery, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2022.
Dr. Ethun is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the Society of Surgical Oncology, the International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association, the Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Association for Cancer Research, and the Association for Academic Surgery.
She has delivered numerous presentations, contributed to seven books, and published nearly 100 academic articles related to her areas of expertise.
