Biography

Clifford Chen, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in pediatric hospital medicine.

Dr. Chen earned his medical degree at UT Southwestern Medical School and completed a residency in pediatrics at UTHealth Houston McGovern Medical School, where he also obtained a master’s degree in biomedical informatics.

Certified in general pediatrics and pediatric hospital medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics and in clinical informatics by the American Board of Preventive Medicine, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2006.

Dr. Chen is a hospitalist at Children’s Medical Center Dallas, where he serves on numerous committees, including the Clinical Decision Support Committee and the Physician Advisory Committee. His clinical interests include clinical informatics and quality improvement.

He is a member of several professional societies, including the American Medical Informatics Association, the Academic Pediatric Society, and the Texas Pediatric Society, for which he serves as Co-Chair of the Committee on Hospital Care.

He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, case reports, and clinical practice guidelines related to his areas of expertise.

When he’s not at work, Dr. Chen enjoys spending time with his family.
