Biography

Evelina Alcalen, M.D., is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in Ob/Gyn emergency services and gynecologic surgery.

Dr. Alcalen earned her medical degree at UTHealth Houston McGovern Medical School. She completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center New Orleans, where she was Chief Resident during her senior year.

Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2011. Her clinical practice is at Parkland Health, where she also teaches and works with medical students and residents.

Dr. Alcalen is a Fellow of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is also a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the Texas Medical Association, and the Dallas County Medical Society.

Personal Note

When she’s not working, Dr. Alcalen enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband and three teenage daughters; going to concerts, musicals, and sports events; and running with her 7-year-old black lab.
