Biography

Govind Krishnan, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in critical care, including extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and mechanical circulatory support, ICU liberation and post-ICU care, chronic respiratory failure, and caring for adult survivors of chronic childhood respiratory illnesses.

Dr. Krishnan earned his medical degree at UT Southwestern Medical School. He completed a combined internal medicine and pediatrics residency at Duke University Medical Center, where he served as Internal Medicine Chief Resident. He received advanced training through a pulmonary and critical care fellowship at Duke.

Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Pediatrics, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2024.

Dr. Krishnan’s clinical interests include quality improvement, health care innovation, and high-value care. He serves in the Center of Innovation and Value at Parkland Health, where he works to implement projects that help patients leave the ICU faster and in better health, and that ensure appropriate resource utilization in the ICU.

He is a member of the American College of Chest Physicians, the Texas Medical Association, and the Dallas County Medical Society.

Dr. Krishnan has delivered invited lectures and published peer-reviewed academic articles related to his areas of expertise.

Personal Note

When he’s not at work, Dr. Krishnan enjoys doing outdoor activities, including hiking, kayaking, and camping.
