Biography
Katherine Kearney, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine’s Division of Cardiology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in adult congenital heart disease, advanced heart failure and transplantation, and pulmonary hypertension, particularly the intersection of the three.
Dr. Kearney earned her medical degree at the University of Sydney in Australia. She completed a residency in internal medicine and received advanced training through fellowships in cardiology, pulmonary hypertension, and advanced heart failure and transplant, all at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney. She also completed a fellowship in adult congenital heart disease at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney and a fellowship in adult congenital heart disease and advanced heart failure at Toronto General Hospital in Canada. In addition, she is pursuing a doctoral degree at the University of New South Wales in Sydney.
Certified by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in cardiology, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2024.
Dr. Kearney is a member of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand, the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation, the American College of Cardiology, and the American Heart Association, and she is a former Board Chair of the Australian Medical Association.
She has delivered international and national invited lectures and published numerous academic articles related to her areas of expertise.
