María Ramos-Román, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine and its Division of Endocrinology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in diabetes mellitus.
Dr. Ramos-Román earned her medical degree at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine and completed a residency in internal medicine at the University District Hospital in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She gained advanced training through a fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism at UT Southwestern, where she also earned a master’s degree in clinical science.
Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2004.
Dr. Ramos-Román is a member of the American Diabetes Association, the Endocrine Society, the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research, and the North American Menopause Society.
She has delivered local and international presentations and published peer-reviewed articles related to her areas of expertise.
Outside of work, Dr. Ramos-Román enjoys reading fiction, going to museums, and traveling.
