Biography

Natalie Tapaskar, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of its Division of Cardiology. She specializes in advanced heart failure, heart transplant, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, inherited cardiomyopathy, and left ventricular assist devices (LVADs).

Dr. Tapaskar earned her medical degree at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. She completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Chicago Medical Center and served as a Chief Resident at MacNeal Hospital. She received advanced training through a general cardiology fellowship and an advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology fellowship at Stanford Medicine.

Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in cardiovascular disease and internal medicine, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2024.

Dr. Tapaskar's research interests include advanced heart failure, transplantation, and cardiogenic shock. She has published numerous articles and abstracts in peer-reviewed journals and presented her findings at international scientific conferences.

She is a member of a number of professional societies, including the American College of Cardiology, the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation, and the Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Medical Society.

Personal Note

When she’s not at work, she enjoys traveling, hiking, eating, and spending time with her family and dog.
