Biography

Rachel Aubert, D.O., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology in the section of Cerebrovascular Disease and Stroke, and is board certified in both adult neurology and vascular neurology. She joined the faculty at UT Southwestern in 2021.

She completed her vascular neurology fellowship at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Arizona, and her adult neurology residency at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, where she served as Chief Resident. She received her medical degree from the Edward via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She is originally from the DFW area. 

Dr. Aubert currently serves as the Program Director of the Vascular Neurology (Stroke) Fellowship in the Neurology Department and is also heavily involved with the Adult and Child Residency Programs. She is a frequently invited lecturer both internally and locally, and is the current quality and safety coordinator for the UTSW trainees and is a safety reviewer for the hospital system. She is also a reviewer for multiple stroke and neurology journals internationally.

Regionally, Dr. Aubert is the acting President and Chair of the North Central Texas Trauma Regional Advisory Council Stroke Committee. She also serves as the workgroup lead for the NCTTRAC Stroke Research Subcommittee and is a member of the Stroke Systems of Care Committee. She also serves on the Texas Neurological Society's Legislative Committee.

She serves on many committees at UTSW and Parkland Hospital focused on improving acute stroke care protocols and processes within the institution(s). Dr. Aubert is also working with the Bahir Dar Outreach for Neurology Education Initiative to develop an inaugural residency program in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia.
