Biography

Socorro Chamblee, M.D., is a Faculty Associate in the Department of Otolaryngology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. As a general ear, nose, and throat (ENT) specialist, she sees patients with nearly any condition of the head or neck. “I approach medicine with compassion and integrity, and my experience allows me to provide patients with the highest level of care,” she says.

Dr. Chamblee cares for patients with chronic sinusitis and allergies, ear infections, chronic tonsillitis, snoring and sleep apnea, and salivary gland disorders. She also sees patients with dizziness, tinnitus (ringing in ears), certain types of headaches, nasal obstruction, hoarseness, and cough.

She has an extensive background in allergy care and also has experience with the latest developments in treating recurrent sinusitis and eustachian tube dysfunction using balloon technology.

Additionally, as the mother of a child with severe hearing loss, Dr. Chamblee has a particular interest in helping patients with ear and audiology issues. She is skilled in repairing perforated ear drums from injuries, scar tissue, or infections. For adults, she is able to place tubes in-office using local anesthesia.

Dr. Chamblee sees both pediatric and adult patients. Her work includes treating a variety of conditions for extended families, from ear tubes in babies to hearing aids and ear wax in their grandparents. "I love ENT because I'm able to care for the whole spectrum of the population, from infants to the elderly," she says.

Dr. Chamblee’s goal is to care for the patient herself or to find the proper specialist that the patient needs. She is dedicated to providing patient care as close to patients’ homes as possible, without compromising on quality of care.

Whenever possible, she stresses preventive measures to treat ENT conditions and in optimizing medical and nonsurgical interventions when available. She likes to establish a friendly rapport with her patients and involves them in their health care as much as possible.

Dr. Chamblee earned her medical degree at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston, where she also completed her residency in otolaryngology – head and neck surgery. In addition, she holds an undergraduate degree in behavioral biology with a minor in Russian from Johns Hopkins University.

Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology in 1998, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2019. She has been in private practice in Collin County since 2003, after stints in Pittsburgh and Indiana from 1997 to 2002.

Dr. Chamblee is a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy and a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and the American Rhinologic Society. She has published several academic articles and was included in D Magazine's Best Doctors in Collin County list in 2015, 2018, 2020, and 2021.
